The Tacoma Union Station’s Historic Rotunda is available for use for many types of activities by organizations and the general public on evenings, weekends and holidays. Some time restrictions apply during normal week days.
Application
Those desiring to use the Rotunda may obtain an application (Application/Permit for Use of Space in Public Buildings and Grounds, GSA Form 3453) by calling 253-863-5173 ext. 223. The completed form is to be returned to the following address:

The application must clearly describe all activities which will take place during the event. The following information is required to prevent unnecessary delays or possible denial of permit:
- Name of your group
- Type of event
- Number of people attending
- Time and date of event
- Time planned for set up and clean up
- Food and beverages
- Alcoholic beverages
On approval of the application you will receive your signed permit along with GSA Form 2957 (Reimbursable Work Authorization) invoicing rental costs that must be paid in advance.
Access
The Tacoma Union Station is open to the public weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is wheelchair accessible and a NON-SMOKING FACILITY.

Rotunda area 9,000 square feet
Balcony area 4,000 square feet
Maximum capacity 1,200 people
(Capacity dependent on type of use)
Catering Facilities
There is a 10’ x 20’ room off the Rotunda with counter and sink. Tables and chairs are not provided.
Alcohol
Alcoholic beverages are allowed. However, you must obtain a special permit from the State of Washington. Permits are available at any Washington State Liquor Control Board store.
Parking
Parking is available for a fee at a city-owned parking lot north of the building.
Music
Music/bands are allowed after 6:00 p.m. weekdays and anytime on weekends/holidays.
